Basketball Recap: Danville Christian Academy Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Danville Christian Academy). They strolled past the Oldham County Colonels with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 72-58. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors who have now won five contests in a row.

Danville Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leek Ateny, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Ateny's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lual Ayiei, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Danville Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Danville Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Oldham County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Danville Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Russell at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oldham County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 76-41 loss against Beechwood on the 21st.
