Recap: Bishop Loughlin Lions vs. Oak Hills Highlanders
If the Bishop Loughlin Lions were feeling good off their 74-35 takedown of the Cumberland County Jets on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bishop Loughlin took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Hills on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bishop Loughlin has scored all season.
Leading Oak Hills to victory were Bobby Stidham and Nate Riep. Stidham dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Riep dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Stidham also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Henry Maginn, who scored ten points.
Bishop Loughlin's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Oak Hills, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Bishop Loughlin and Nazareth will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Nazareth presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bishop Loughlin in New York (Nazareth is ranked 85th, while Bishop Loughlin is ranked 451st). As for Oak Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton and Oak Hills are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
