Softball Recap: Kings Mountain Extends Winning Streak to Three

Kings Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Forestview Jaguars by a score of 6-1. That's more bragging rights for the Mountaineers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maddie Huffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Anna Wooten was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Paige Fleming was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Wooten wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Kings Mountain lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Kings Mountain's record is now 3-1. As for Forestview, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Kings Mountain is taking a road trip to face off against Ashbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Forestview, they will welcome South Point at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
