Football Game Preview: Lynwood Knights vs. Norwalk Lancers

Lynwood is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Norwalk Lancers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Lynwood has given up an average of 26.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lynwood's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against La Quinta two weeks ago. They were outmatched by the Blackhawks and fell 36-0. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 737th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 243rd).

Meanwhile, Norwalk put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Paramount by a score of 21-14. Those 21 points were actually the fewest the Lancers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Lynwood better keep an eye on Diego Cerritos. He was instrumental in Norwalk's win, rushing for 125 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Cerritos' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Norwalk's record now sits at 5-0. As for Lynwood, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lynwood ended up a good deal behind Norwalk in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 33-15. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
