Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Roads). They blew past the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators 18-2 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Aviators: they've now won five in a row.

Santiago Jimenez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. New Roads is 3-1 when Jimenez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Jimenez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, New Roads got a massive performance out of Donovan Eastwood, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Eastwood has posted since back in February. Sebastian Berumen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

New Roads kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

New Roads' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8-1 record this season.
