Baseball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Gets the Win

While Mt. Pleasant's win against Albia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Blue Demons on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 22, 2025.

Mt. Pleasant's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Albia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mt. Pleasant will face off against Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Albia, they will head out on the road to square off against Davis County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
