Cordova has won three straight games at home, while Good Hope has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Cordova Blue Devils will host the Good Hope Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Cordova is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Cordova came up short against Northside on Saturday, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.
Cordova saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Good Hope got themselves on the board against Fairview on Thursday, but Fairview never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Aggies. Considering the Raiders have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lizzy Steed was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Kylee Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Good Hope hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview struck out nine times.
Good Hope has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. Cordova's loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both Cordova and Good Hope just can't seem to miss. Cordova has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Good Hope struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cordova came out on top in a nail-biter against Good Hope in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. Does Cordova have another victory up their sleeve, or will Good Hope turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
