Halifax is 9-1 against East Juniata since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. Halifax will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Halifax had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Greenwood on Friday. Halifax was the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Greenwood. The result was nothing new for Halifax, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Cohen Bechtel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Steinhauer, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Halifax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for East Juniata's offense. They came up short against Susquenita on Wednesday, falling 15-0. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Halifax's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for East Juniata, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
East Juniata's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Halifax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for East Juniata, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Halifax's hitters?
Halifax took their win against East Juniata when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
