Baseball Game Preview: George Jenkins Eagles vs. Lakeland Christian Vikings

The George Jenkins Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Lakeland Christian Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

George Jenkins had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Bartow on Tuesday. George Jenkins was the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Bartow. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Lakeland Christian waltzed into their contest on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 10-1 victory.

Carson Martin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lakeland Christian got a massive performance out of Mookie Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Nathan Diaz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Lakeland Christian's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for George Jenkins, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

George Jenkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for George Jenkins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
