Softball Recap: Grand County's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

If Grand County was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Hillcrest on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grand County Red Devils took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pahrump Valley Trojans on Saturday. The match marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kemree Wells made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Delaie Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, Grand County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pahrump Valley struck out nine times.

The defeat snapped Grand County's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Pahrump Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Grand County will face off against Shelley at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pahrump Valley, they will take on Skyridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pahrump Valley's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Skyridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
