Basketball Recap: Goodwin Tech Victorious

Goodwin Tech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 67-66 photo finish over the Harvard Ellis Tech Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Gladiators also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Goodwin Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nazir Russell, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Russell's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Amare Robinson was another key player, going 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points.

Goodwin Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Goodwin Tech is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Harvard Ellis Tech, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Goodwin Tech will square off against Terryville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Harvard Ellis Tech, they will face off against Grasso Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Grasso Tech knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matches -- so hopefully Harvard Ellis Tech likes a good challenge.
