Ohio football playoff roundup: 5-game watch

In the great state of Ohio, there were more than a few great games Friday and Saturday. Here's a few of them from regional finals.

1. Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) 24, Colerain 21
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Keith Watkins Ii rushed for 202 yards and a touchdown, that coming with 4:24 remaining lifting Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) (10-3) to a win over Colerain (12-1) in Division I, Region 4 title game at Nippert Stadium on Saturday. It was the first regional title for Moeller since 1997. A 75-yard punt return for touchdown by Max Foley also keyed the victory. Qwixcore.

2. Pickerington North  21, Davidson 0
Godwin Igwebuike rushed for a touchdown and caught a pass for another score and the North defense did the rest in a Division I Region 3 title game. … According to thisweeknews.com, backup quarterback Zeph Miller added a 30-yard touchdown run for North (12-1). 3. Whitmer (Toledo, Ohio) 49, Washington 16
According to Therese Vinal, Tre Sterritt rushed for three touchdowns and Me'Gail Frisch added two rushing scores as Whitmer won this Division I Region final. … Whitmer piled up 409 yards, including 272 on the ground. Qwixcore.

4. Central Catholic (Toledo) 42, Avon 14

A late first-half flurry plus 134 yards rushing and three touchdowns by Amir Edwards lifted Central Catholic (12-1) to the lopsided Region 6 Division II title game. … According to Toledoblade.com, Deshone Kizer accounted for 185 yards and Central Catholic's defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns. … Central Catholic outgained Avon 387-198 and held Michigan-bound Ross Douglas to 69 yards rushing.

5. New Albany 32, Marion-Franklin 30
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Darron Lee did it all – he threw for touchdown passes of 48 and 39 yards, returned a punt 82 yards for a score and rushed for a TD – leading New Albany to a Division II region championship game. … To top it off, Lee clinched the win with an interception.
