Basketball Recap: Calhoun Skates Past Heritage with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Calhoun's strategy against Heritage on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Calhoun Yellow Jackets blew the Heritage Generals out of the water with a 75-39 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.

Leading Calhoun to victory were Blake Hammett and Trey Perkins. Hammett went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Perkins made all 7 shots he took to post 14 points and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Hammett has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Kelly, who posted seven points.

Calhoun was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Calhoun and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun will square off against Northwest Whitfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64 points per game this season. As for Heritage, they will face off against LaFayette at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
