Baseball Game Preview: Allen Park Jaguars vs. Escanaba Eskymos

The Allen Park Jaguars will take on the Escanaba Eskymos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Allen Park 2.9, Escanaba 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Escanaba will be up against a hot Allen Park squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Jaguars' way against Carlson on Thursday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly ten runs.

Reece Phillips made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Phillips was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brody Matelic was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ryan Lawyer was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Allen Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlson only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Escanaba's offense. They fell just short of Trenton by a score of 2-0 on Friday.

Escanaba's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Allen Park, their win bumped their record up to 11-5-1.
