Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Prospectors vs. Florence Gophers
Apache Junction had lost seven straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-21 to make it eight. They were outmatched by the Florence Gophers and fell 97-29. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gophers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 96-20 on January 9th.
As for Florence, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Brody Ramirez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was JJ Gibbs, who went 7-for-14 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will square off against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Prospectors will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests. As for Florence, they will challenge Coolidge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gophers will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
