Softball Game Preview: Bowie Volunteers vs. Lamar Vikings

The Bowie Volunteers will venture away from home to challenge the Lamar Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bowie lost 16-5 to Haltom on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Volunteers in their meetings with the Buffalos: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Lamar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against Arlington, falling 17-7.

Nathalie Dermas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mariska Soliz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lamar, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.

Everything went Bowie's way against Lamar in their previous matchup back in March, as Bowie made off with a 24-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Volunteers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
