Softball Game Preview: Mechanicsburg Indians vs. Triad Cardinals

Mechanicsburg has gone a perfect 10-0 against Triad recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mechanicsburg has four straight victories, Triad has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Mechanicsburg was able to grind out a solid win over Cedarville, taking the game 5-2.

Mylee DeLong was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. DeLong was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keelyn McGhee, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Avery McDowell was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Triad lost 19-2 to West Jefferson on Tuesday.

Triad's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Mechanicsburg, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Everything went Mechanicsburg's way against Triad in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Mechanicsburg made off with a 15-3 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
