Basketball Recap: Brighton Falls Despite Big Games from Kaitlin Linton and Paityn Meacham

It was a proper cat-fight when Brighton duked it out with Ripley on Tuesday. The Cardinals lost to the Tigers at home by a 49-30 margin. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 45-42.

Brighton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Paityn Meacham, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Kaitlin Linton, who posted six points in addition to five boards and three blocks. Linton continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Brighton dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ripley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will welcome Memphis Home Education Association at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ripley, they will host Dyer County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
