Basketball Recap: Carson Kurdys' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Islands over Calvary Day

Islands suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They lost 69-46 to the Calvary Day Cavaliers. The Sharks have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Kurdys, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points and six boards. Those 15 points gave Kurdys a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deondrae Hills, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Islands' defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Calvary Day, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Calvary Day beat Islands by a score of 56-49 on Saturday.
