Baseball Game Preview: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Mullen Mustangs

The Eaglecrest Raptors will head out on the road to take on the Mullen Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Cherokee Trail hit Eaglecrest with a six-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raptors lost 9-2 to the Cougars. The Raptors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eaglecrest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Ostrander, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Mullen came up short against Cherry Creek on Tuesday, falling 10-2. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost seven in a row.

Mullen also got a good showing from Jake Clark, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clark has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Henry Christy made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Eaglecrest's record is now 7-12. As for Mullen, their record now sits at an identical 7-12.

Eaglecrest was able to grind out a solid win over Mullen in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 4-0. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
