Basketball Recap: Sands Takes a Loss

The Sands Mustangs came up short against the Midland Classical Academy Knights on Saturday, falling 59-39. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Knights are ranked 1227th).

Sands' loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Midland Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.

The future could be bright for both Sands and Midland Classical Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Sands will try to hand Garden City their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th. Meanwhile, Midland Classical Academy will look to extend Trinity's six-game losing streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
