Basketball Recap: North Takes a Loss

North and Derby squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but North had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Derby Panthers, falling 82-10. The RedHawks just can't catch a break and have now endured 13 losses in a row.

Macayla Askew was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 17 boards for Derby. Those 17 rebounds gave Askew a new career-high. Maya Harris was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and three steals.

North's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Derby, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Derby, they will face off against Garden City at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Derby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
