Softball Recap: Hillcrest Beats Easley for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Hillcrest came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Easley Green Wave. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-2 on April 1st.

Skyla Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Riley Ramsey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Easley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will face off against Woodmont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Easley, they will challenge Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Wave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
