Preview: Clover Hill Cavaliers vs. Manchester Lancers
Clover Hill is 1-9 against Manchester since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Clover Hill Cavaliers will head out on the road to challenge the Manchester Lancers at 7:15 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clover Hill has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Manchester will arrive with 12 straight victories.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-36, which was the final score in Clover Hill's tilt against Cosby on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Clover Hill saw an underclassman step up: Cara Barker scored eight points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Manchester gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They beat Richmond City School of the Arts by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 100-13. Given Manchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Richmond City School of the Arts is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clover Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Clover Hill was dealt a bruising 64-7 loss at the hands of Manchester when the teams last played back in January. Can Clover Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
