Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for South Brunswick

While South Brunswick didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Dixon Bulldogs with a sharp 56-34 win on Wednesday. The Cougars pushed the score to 45-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading South Brunswick to victory were Adyson Bell and Aubree Adams. Bell went 9 of 18 on her way to 21 points along with five boards and three steals, while Adams dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Covington, who posted three points in addition to seven boards, six steals, and five assists.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kiara Griffin, who had 12 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kailei Dawsey, who put up eight points and six boards.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Dixon, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

South Brunswick didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-44 defeat against East Columbus on the 6th. As for Dixon, they will venture away from home to face off against Heide Trask at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
