Softball Recap: Stansbury Stallions vs. Morgan Trojans
Stansbury extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 9-10 in the process. They came up short against the Morgan Trojans, falling 12-2. The Stallions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Stansbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Baker, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs.
On Morgan's side, Callie Averett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Averett was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Joesi Kelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lexi Hardman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Stansbury wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-0 loss against Bountiful on the 26th. As for Morgan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-2 victory against Sky View on the 26th.
