Basketball Game Preview: Vista Grande Spartans vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

Vista Grande hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vista Grande Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Vista Grande didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Canyon del Oro, but they still walked away with a 59-54 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, Mountain View won against Gila Ridge on Wednesday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Mountain View enjoyed a cozy 57-40 win over Casa Grande. The victory was familiar territory for the Mountain Lions who have now won three contests in a row.

Vista Grande better keep an eye on Isaiah Romero. He was instrumental in Mountain View's win, putting up 21 points along with six boards and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Romero has scored at least a third of Mountain View's points. Another player making a difference was Joaquin Meek, who posted 14 points.

Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Vista Grande is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
