Softball Recap: Rocklin's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

While Rocklin put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Ponderosa. The Rocklin Thunder were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over the Ponderosa Bruins. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Payton Prior made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rocklin let Katie Wetteland and Savannah Lorenzini run wild. Wetteland went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Lorenzini went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. The dominant performance gave Lorenzini a new career-high in runs. Maddie Williams also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Rocklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponderosa only posted an OBP of .250.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, Rocklin will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ponderosa, they will host Folsom at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
