Basketball Recap: Wayzata's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Wayzata won the last time they faced Roseville and things went their way on Friday too. The stars were shining brightly for the Wayzata Trojans in a 72-56 victory over the Roseville Raiders. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Raiders are ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Wayzata and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Roseville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayzata will head out to square off against White Bear Lake at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Wayzata knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully White Bear Lake likes a good challenge. As for Roseville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cretin-Derham Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
