Basketball Recap: Lowndes Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Lowndes and Grayson squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Lowndes had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Grayson Rams by a score of 57-54. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Lowndes lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kayla Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kaci Demps, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Lowndes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Lowndes' loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Grayson, the win was the 29th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-1.

Lowndes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grayson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 53-48 victory against Cherokee on the 1st.
