Baseball Game Preview: Forest Area Warriors vs. Pellston Hornets

The Forest Area Warriors will face off against the Pellston Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Forest Area is looking for their season's first victory.

Forest Area's last matchup with Central Lake could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Thursday. The Warriors lost 13-3 to the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Pellston might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Mackinaw City who claimed the real prize. The Hornets came up short against the Comets, falling 15-5.

Brett Bonter and Issac Groff did some serious damage despite the final result: Bonter went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Groff went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Groff has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Landen Brandt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Forest Area's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Pellston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Forest Area beat Pellston 6-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
