Football Recap: Waterford Starts Season with Win at Home

Waterford took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 33-6 victory over the River Islands Riptide.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Waterford's defense and their three sacks. Michael Statzer refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Despite the loss, River Islands still got an impressive performance from Daryl Carpenter, who threw for 212 yards on 12 of 25 attempts, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterford will face off against Beyer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for River Islands, they will take on Delhi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
