Softball Recap: Rouse Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rouse came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Hays Hawks get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-4 back in March.

Not much got past Blakely Barber, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Hays off the board. Barber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ciana Arguijo, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eeva Chick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Rouse pushed their record up to 13-8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hays, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Rouse will head out to square off against Cedar Park at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Hays, they will host Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
