Basketball Recap: Stone's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Stone posted their closest win since December 14, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vancleave Bulldogs 52-50. The win was some much needed relief for the Tomcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Stone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Scarbrough led the charge by putting up 20 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Scarbrough is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Deandre Smith, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Stone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Stone's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Vancleave, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Stone will have a chance to go back-to-back against Vancleave: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
