Basketball Recap: Nick Robinson and Tyler Pena Secure Win for South Mountain

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North, South Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dobson Mustangs 65-63. While the Jaguars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

South Mountain was led to victory by Tyler Pena and Nick Robinson. Pena went 8-for-11 to rack up 17 points and eight boards, while Robinson dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Robinson a new career-high. Mario Pacheco was another key player, putting up 13 points.

South Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Dobson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, South Mountain will welcome Combs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dobson, they will venture away from home to take on San Luis at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' defense better be ready for this one: the Sidewinders have averaged an impressive 56 points per game this season.
