Baseball Game Preview: Moriarty Pintos vs. Taos Tigers

The Moriarty Pintos will head out on the road to challenge the Taos Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Moriarty has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Moriarty and Los Alamos, and Los Alamos kept the tradition alive. The Pintos lost 15-2 to the Hilltoppers on Monday. The Pintos have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Moriarty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Kamplain, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Taos had just enough and edged out Pojoaque Valley 12-11 on Wednesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Elks/Elkettes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Taos got a massive performance out of Miguel Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in RBI (three). Jeremiah Gonzales was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Taos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Moriarty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Taos, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 8-6.

Moriarty's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Pintos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game.
