Softball Recap: Warren Wins Going Away Against Marshall

Warren's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Marshall Rams with a sharp 12-1 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Jenna Bonilla made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaya Castillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Aubrey Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Warren kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Warren moved to 5-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Marshall, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Warren will look to defend their home field on Friday against Holmes at 7:00 p.m. As for Marshall, they will challenge Sotomayor at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Marshall is facing Sotomayor at the right time seeing as Sotomayor is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
