Softball Recap: Southeast Lauderdale Wins Going Away Against Mclaurin

Southeast Lauderdale never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against McLaurin as Southeast Lauderdale made off with a 15-0 win. Southeast Lauderdale has beaten McLaurin the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest McLaurin has come to flipping the script.

Kaleigh Butler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Southeast Lauderdale let Harper Simmons and Adrianna Stephens run wild. Simmons scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Stephens scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Simmons a new career-high in runs. Karly Hollingsworth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Southeast Lauderdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Southeast Lauderdale pushed their record up to 6-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for McLaurin, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-6.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Southeast Lauderdale Tigers face off against Sebastopol Bobcats at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southeast Lauderdale will need to watch out since Sebastopol has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. McLaurin will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Enterprise at 6:30 p.m. on April 1st.
