Baseball Recap: Argo Takes a Loss

Argo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-1 to the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs. The Argonauts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Argo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Mateyack, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Dennis Gaytan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Argo's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Argo will head out to square off against Bloom at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Argo is facing Bloom at the right time seeing as Bloom is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they will square off against Richards at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Richards' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Berwyn/Cicero Morton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
