Softball Game Preview: St. Charles Catholic Comets vs. Houma Christian Warriors

The St. Charles Catholic Comets will square off against the Houma Christian Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Charles Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy by a score of 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Swamp Owls: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Houma Christian made easy work of Bourgeois on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrey Thomas was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Boudreaux, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Thomas wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Houma Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Houma Christian is 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

St. Charles Catholic pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Houma Christian, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
