Baseball Recap: Sage Creek Comes Up Short

Sage Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Elsinore on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Elsinore Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sage Creek got a good showing from Jett Hibdon, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Sage Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Saiki, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. The dominant performance gave Saiki a new career-high in stolen bases.

Sage Creek's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Elsinore, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Sage Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Fallbrook at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elsinore, they will head out to challenge Mission Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Elsinore's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Mission Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
