Baseball Game Preview: Lufkin Panthers vs. Lumberton Raiders

The Lufkin Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Lumberton Raiders at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Lufkin fell victim to Lumberton and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Lumberton's part, Grayson Steininger looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Lumberton's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Pullen, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Pullen also put up a stolen base, which washis first of the season.

Lumberton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lufkin fell to 2-1. As for Lumberton, their record now sits at 4-0.
