Basketball Recap: Edison Eagles vs. Hayfield Hawks
Edison lost against Hayfield back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Edison Eagles lost to the Hayfield Hawks on the road by a 65-51 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Hawks are ranked 30th).
Hayfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Lemon out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lemon a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Prosper, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Hayfield, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edison will challenge Annandale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hayfield, they will square off against Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
