Softball Recap: Monticello Starts Season with Win at Home

Monticello took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They never let the Cumberland Dukes get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.

Cumberland's batters probably weren't too happy with Madison Steppe, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Stella Snoddy and Willow Barr did most of the damage at the plate: Snoddy scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Barr scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Barr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Good, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will challenge Waynesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cumberland, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Monticello at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
