Softball Recap: Arkansas Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Arkansas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Hope Bobcats on Thursday as the Arkansas Razorbacks made off with a 10-4 win. Considering the Razorbacks have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jewel Smart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Arkansas let Aniya Arnold and Kirstyn Snyder run wild. Arnold went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Snyder went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Arnold hit this season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Wilder, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

With the victory, Arkansas broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Hope, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arkansas will head out to take on El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Arkansas is facing El Dorado at the right time seeing as El Dorado is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hope, they will head out on the road to challenge Mineral Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
