Baseball Recap: Midland Extends Winning Streak to Three

Midland won against Seneca last Tuesday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Timberwolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Fighting Irish 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Timberwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Dom Rosa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Midland: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5-2 otherwise.

Rosa wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Traver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Henry Elsasser also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Midland picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-6-2. As for Seneca, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midland will challenge Peoria Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Seneca, they will face off against Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
