Baseball Recap: Ayala Drops Season-High Score on Ocean View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ayala). They blew past the Ocean View Seahawks 15-6 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Isaac Huver looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Wood was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Erlandsen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Ayala kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in eight consecutive contests.

Ayala's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ocean View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Ayala and Ocean View should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bulldogs will take on Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 388). Meanwhile, Ocean View (ranked 263rd) will meet Tustin (ranked 583rd) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
