Football Game Preview: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. North Central Knights

Andrew Jackson has gone 8-2 against North Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Volunteers will take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m. North Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Andrew Jackson, who comes in off a win.

Andrew Jackson took a 20-point loss the last time they faced off against Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Volunteers pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over the Eagles on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Volunteers as they're now sitting on three straight.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Damias Seegars and Jvon Kelly. Seegars gained 83 total yards while Kelly rushed for 62 yards and one TD. Seegars also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Andrew Jackson is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, North Central played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 42-7 defeat at the hands of Cheraw. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost three in a row.

Andrew Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for North Central, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Andrew Jackson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against North Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Volunteers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
