Soccer Game Preview: Scranton vs. Valley View

Scranton is 2-7 against Valley View since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Scranton has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Scranton fell victim to Abington Heights and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Comets. While losing is never fun, Scranton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 446th, while Abington Heights are ranked 15th).

Valley View hadn't beaten Delaware Valley on the road since September 8, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Warriors 2-1.

Luke Stevens and Ethan Namlick scored both of Valley View's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Scranton's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Valley View, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Scranton suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Valley View in their previous meeting on September 2nd. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
