Basketball Recap: Granite City Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jack Dutko and Evan Brewer

Granite City lost against Decatur Eisenhower back in December of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. The Granite City Warriors came up short against the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers, falling 61-36. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Panthers are ranked 136th).

Granite City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Brewer, who made all 8 shots he took racking up 19 points and five rebounds, and Jack Dutko, who posted five points. With that strong performance, Brewer is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

Granite City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granite City will face off against Cardinal Ritter College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
